I am on my way to Bethlehem, PA for an artists’ retreat. I’m really looking forward to the next couple of days. We’ll be going through some new (and old) works from contributing playwrights and seeing what magic we can collectively create.
Being that I’m here as an actor as opposed to a writer I’m not going to get much writing done over the next couple of days. We’re up at 7:30am tomorrow and have a rather packed schedule full of rehearsing and performing. In other words, a day full of artful, supportive productivity with people I love. Whenever I spend time with this group I feel more encouraged to write, which, in an of itself is a good thing.
Met with my group friends on Sunday with whom I’m reading “Safe People”…realized that I have some pretty gnarly patterns in past relationships. It amazes me how unaware of ourselves we can truly be. Anyway, moving towards change. I don’t know when a relationship will come my way, but I want to make sure I’m as safe as I can be. Do unto others…
No exercising today or yesterday and there’s been quite a bit of cheating, to be honest. There was a lot of rushing around today…I had to drop my dog off at his sitter in Washington Heights, then back home to shower, pack and tidy up, then off to PA. What I’m learning through this challenge is not just how difficult it is to get started, but how challenging it is to stay on track and fight for the time you need to do what you need to do for yourself. It’s all a learning process.
